Stats: Born 29 December 1977 and hails from Philadelphia PA, USA (coincidentally the city of brotherly love, yeah you heard it - big gay town) Descending from German and Irish roots and quite possibly, part Goddess!

She comes from a family tree who has lined their branches with talent, cousin of Gwyneth Paltrow (Actress & Wife of Chris Martin - Cold Play) and niece of Blythe Danner (Meet the Fockers). Kate has an inventory of theatrical work to be proud of.

Obviously, we all know and love her as the insatiable and resident bad-ass Shane McCutcheon, on 'the L word'. Every girl wants to be her and most les's just want her. That would be why I can't stop gushing and have to add her in her rightful place, to the top of GF's hot Celez's.

Dashingly good looks, husky voice and a body that you find yourself wishing were on top or bottom, if you prefer. Alright, I'll stop already...

Most recently, Ms. Moennig has taken on the character of Dr. Miranda Foster, in the current series 'Three Rivers', set to air on US mega-station, CBS, sometime around 4 Oct. 2009. Dr. Foster is a surgeon with a bit of a rebellious streak, sizzling demeanour and strives to live up to dead daddy's flawless surgical reputation.

The show deals with the complexities and emotional scenarios of organ donors, their families and receivers of such life saving organs at an eminent transplant hospital. There aren't too many clues as to what Kate's private life on the series will entail, but just watching her on screen should give anyone a reason to look for the nearest illegal download (not that we condone that sort of thing) since it will be unavailable in the UK until God knows when.

Hopefully, this stint will open Kate up to the mainstream TV audience and lead her away a bit, but not too far, from the typecast that she has been mostly placed, as an androgynous character.

We here at GirlFix would like to see her for years to come and wish her much continued success. Speaking of androgynies or ambiguity; Shane, are you ever going to come out and make a GirlFix-er's dream come true?
